   That it was French is important. It's a reference to Dali's "Ceci n'est   
   pas une pipe".   
      
   I hoped to elicit some discussion of the semantic modelling of how, when   
   you hold a picture in front of someone and ask "What is it?" they will   
   agree its a cat even though upon examining it they will decide it's made   
   of ink, decide that its not an animal because its ink.   
      
   But I'd hoped to do that without all the tiresome prose.
