   That may well be true, but I don't think that I have been searching for   
   denser encodings in the sense you mean it here.   
      
   I have just modified the instruction set, though, in order to save a few   
   logic gates.   
      
   In the Augmented Short Instruction Mode, a bunch of instructions had to   
   have their opcodes modified because the memory-reference instructions   
   contined on further down the opcode space (the first half of the opcode   
   space having been taken away from them for short instructions that were 15   
   bits long instead of 14 bits long).   
      
   Well, what I did was change the leading bits for 14-bit short instructions   
   and the Type III header so that I could move those instructions down in   
   the same way in the regular instruction set, thus eliminating one little   
   bit of complexity from the architecture.
