   Sigh ...  This is a frequently asked question (FAQ).   
      
   I use NASM (available Windows, Linux, and DOS) for standalone x86   
   assembly, and in-lined assembly with C compilers which have their own   
   assemblers, e.g., GAS for GCC, WASM for OpenWatcom, etc.
