      From: nowhere@never.at              sorry for the delayed response,              I think we could combine a 5:4 ASCII-to-BIN and a pack algo. ie:       my first thought was about a 5 bit encoded text which may cover       all ASCII incl. all controls from 00..7F in five groups [01..1A],       1B..1F are group prefixes and 00 used as terminator.              We first would need to convert TEXT_5 to TEXT_8 and then 5:4 to BIN.       this way we may be able to save up to 40% on transfer bandwidth.              and as we are on packing algos...       my preference would be a compromise of speed vs compression rate.              let's discuss some pack/unpack variants around so far...       I haven't studied any yet.       __       wolfgang              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
