I have heard of the FreeWin95 project when I was doing some       research about the ReactOS project, and I know there is such a thing as       FreeDOS, which is an open-source DOS clone, and I am thinking of starting a       project called SodaOS, which is        a Windows 9x-like OS. I know that many people use FreeDOS, even though DOS is       dated, so that's how I got the idea to make SodaOS. I am looking for people to       help, including programmers, and I need someone to design boot screens and a       logo for SodaOS too.        I hope this project goes somewhere, and if you help, I thank you for that, and       bye.       >              What is the purpose of the project? I tried ReactOS as a virtual PC with       VirtualBox and I liked the small size of the OS but had problems with       the drivers not being available. So any endevour you do you might want       to keep in mind to keep the drivers compatible with a more modern form       of Windows drivers so you won't lack on drivers.              I use DOS for working with some old projects I used in the past I used       DOSBox, but more often and older version of Windows in VirtualBox. One       thing I was reminded of when working with those old software projects       was how much simpler the programming was.              I would suggest that if you are going to have a project on an older OS       that Windows98 might be a better choice, it's quite similar to 95 but       has a lot of improvements without getting overly complicated.              --       Cecil - k5nwa              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
