   This reminds me of a Commodore 64 assembler called Fast Assembler that hooked   
   into the BASIC interpreter and ran BASIC as well as being an assembler   
   that could resolve almost anything in X passes. It re-adjusted on every   
   pass until it resolved everything. No phase errors. Smart software and   
   only about 3K in size.
