   Some years ago, I bought the LCC book.   
      
   The book explains it in some detail, in addition to any comments   
   in the code.  As well as I know, it is meant for understanding.   
      
   It is especially convenient if you only what to retarget the code   
   generator, for a new (or existing) machine.   
      
   I have no desire to look at gcc.
