   I'm not suggesting that your users are lying to you, but you need to get   
   hold of the log files to determine what is happening.   
      
   And I would certainly recommend that you install Vista on a computer, so   
   that you can test your install before you ship. In this day and age of   
   virtual machines, you don't even need more hardware.   
      
   By the way, if the installation caused the entire OS to crash, that is   
   they got a blue screen, then the problem is likely to be elsewhere than   
   in the SQL Server install.
