   It sounds like you should reapply SP1 for VS 2008.   
      
   Did you have VB originally? If you have Compact 3.5 without SP1, it sounds   
   that you've installed something in between SQL 2008 RTM and SP1 which   
   somehow replaced SQL Compact 3.5 SP1 with Compact RTM, and which also   
   gave you VB 2008 RTM.
