From: laconic2@comcast.net              Thanks, Jim.              I'll lurk on comp.databases for a while to see if generic database design       questions surface there. Good tip.              comp.databases.theory is also a good lead. In fact, I proposed this       newsgroup over there, initially. At least two or three of the regulars gave       a positive comment.              There are two kinds of threads that surface repeatedly in       comp.databases.theory:              One is the fairly standard generic design question, covering a broad range       of depth.              The other is an ongoing discussion of how a Relational DBMS should work, if       one were to be built that really conformed to the relational data model.       This second topic is really about the theory of DBMS construction, rather       than the theory of Database construction.              That's what got me started thinking along the lines of a new newsgroup. But       it's possible that the need isn't really there. That's what I'm exploring       now.              Again, thanks for your input.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
