   you mis-understand how the "out of disk space" error works.. in most cases,   
   it's stalled on a specific step in a process.. in theory, you free up some   
   space, then it moves on to the next step.. then the next step barfs because   
   it, too, needs some space.. then the next step, etc, etc, etc..   
      
   also, we haven't focused on it, but that message can also be the result of a   
   damaged table.. and, yes, the damage might only show itself occasionally..   
   depending on the type of damage, and the type of file access..
