I set up a calendar table with working days and non-working days identified.
Easiest way of doing these sorts of calculation.

Start at, say 1900. List all dates to say 2079 (the top of Paradox's range).
Mark weekends and standard holidays as non working days. Then calculate an
incremental number for elapsed days and working days. Then to calculate the
days between two dates, simply find the dates and the corresponding days and
   subtract.

To calculate the end date given a start date and a number of working days,
find the start date and corresponding day, add the working days, find the
end day and the corresponding date.

This technque can work for both forward and backward calculations. For
example, given a required finishing date and required work days for a task,
you can easily work back to the required start date for the task.
