Based on questions you and Tony asked me I asked the Admin Manager these
   questions:
   Is oplocks OFF
   Is disk caching OFF
Are all of the PCs with Paradox running the same OS (version/patch) ?
What is running on the server?

This is the reply I got:
   NOW WHAT ???????

Is oplocks OFF - There is no entry in the registry of NTSV6. Since it does
not appear anywhere, the system is then assuming a TRUE value for the setting
and opportunistic locking is NOT disabled. Kevin would need to OK a change
such as this because it could have unintended consequences.
According to Microsoft, slow performance, frequent lockups at workstations,
and database corruption may result if opportunistic locking is enabled on
the Windows 2000/2003 server and you have any of the following workstations
   in your network:
   •	Windows 98 Second Edition
   •	Windows ME
   •	Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2
To improve performance, Windows 2000/2003 Server by default enables and uses
opportunistic file locking to allow workstations to read more database records
than they currently need. This read-ahead can cause database corruption when
workstation B modifies the record previously read by workstation A, then
workstation A does not flush the invalid data from the cache.
To reduce the possibility of database corruption, Microsoft recommends
   disabling
opportunistic file locking in networks that have any workstations with Windows
98 Second Edition, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 Professional with Service
Pack 1 or Service Pack 2.
You do not need to disable opportunistic file locking if all of the
   workstations
in your network have Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 or higher
   or Windows XP Professional.
Is disk caching OFF – Yes

Are all of the PCs with Paradox running the same OS (version/patch)? –All
workstations are running Window XP – Professional SP2. The actually patches
that are installed on each workstation will vary for number of reasons. (Day
of week the respective department is updated, was the workstation on for
   the update cycle etc)

What is running on the server? – It’s running several license managers and
   serves a back print server.
