   I'm here to tell you that you can.   
      
   I guess it depends on the type of corruption, maybe.   
      
   I had a table with ~40,000 records and very wide.  All kinds of problems,   
   and I tried about everything I knew at the time to fix it.  Turns out it had   
   a couple dozen records farkled near the middle of the table.   
      
   I wound up deleting them manually, verifying/repairing, then adding into a   
   new structure.  Only then was the data completely usable.
