(I       have a system which checks the lock file size at 9pm and if they're       larger than 100K, it emails me and I VPN in, close the app on PCs that       are running the app and that allows the lock files to automatically       delete). It does the same check at 6am and emails me and others in IT       so the first one in can repeat the shut down process so the lock files       will delete. If we didn't do this, our system would hang daily from the       size of the lock files.              > I checked with the Network Administrator (NA) and was told YES backups are       > done after 5PM BUT should not interfere with Users if they are online.              Bah! Backup software needs to lock files to back them up (and won't       back them up if it can't get the right lock), backups take a lot of disk       and memory resource. The notion that you can do backups at the same       time as users are using a system and have the two not interfere with       each other is nonsense. Why aren't the backups automated and happening       around midnight?              Liz              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
