From: EgbertBabst@BabstSoft.com              Jim,       now I've my equipment so far installed, that I could run some tests. The       scenario isn't exactly the same as what you described:       - I've *one* Vista (Home Premium) PC (no Full Pdox - only one app with       Runtime) and 5 other workstations/laptops in a peer-to-peer net.       - All is done with P9 SP3,       - NET.DIR is correctly located and well configured on the XP-laptop on both       cases:       - I tested (1) the app (with Full Pdox) on a XP-laptop which has to copy,       compare and, if necessary, create new tables on my Vista workstation;        (2) the same app with PdoxRT on the Vista-workstation trying       to do just the same vice-versa.       While (2) works just fine and fast, (1) is a horror-scenario that brakes my       app: All actions on the laptop are nearly frozen, even to invoke the       taskmanager take loooong time. And CPU usage is nearly less than 1%, no       important network-activities seen. I had to shot down the app brutally.              Should nobody be able to correct this behavior anyhow then I can't sell my       apps to people who want to mix Vista with XP in the network. And if you say       that the same horror happens between Vista and Vista then we can't say we       were happy this time, that Vista didn't break Paradox. It has broken       Paradox!       A little sparkle remains: Copying various files with the explorer from the       XP-laptop to the Vista-workstation lasts remarkably long too.              Egbert              --       _______________________________       Babst, Institutionsberatung,       BabstSoft e.K.       Ludwigstr. 86       64546 Mörfelden-Walldorf       Tel: 06105 74974       Handelsregister:       Amtsgericht Darmstadt HRA 53360       www.BabstSoft.com       _______________________________       "Jim Moseley" |
