   This seems like the situation I encountered.  No CPU, network, or disk usage.   
    Just dead in the water for a long time.   
      
   I'm guessing that the file or BDE locking has a built in delay, which is   
   100 times longer in Vista than in XP.  Why else would it grind to a halt   
   with nothing happening?   
      
   I'm glad you've found that XPpro works better.  Unfortunately, I can't dictate   
   to my clients what hardware to use.  I only ran into the Vista problem after   
   some had gone out & refreshed their entire office with new computers.
