I can elaborate my position on the below points       for anyone who is interested, but in a nutshell:              - Most software development is software maintenance, not new development.              - I think organizing a software development project depends on the size of       the project and the size of the team. And the budget.              - The programming as construction metaphor is both inapproriate and worn       out, IMHO.              - You cite the wisdom of Frank but also establish him as a wingnut. :-)              - You make a lot of specific statements about the validity of several       methodologies without either backing them up or even establishing your own       credentials.              - I'm not sure I understand the point of the "Rebirth of the Internet"       article. I see the broader use of web services as a means of utilizing the       business know-how, not the CPU cycles, at the other end. I do see       application hosting giving way to service publishing, but I don't see this       resulting in an unemployment spike for ASP/PHP/Perl developers. Perhaps I       am in need of clarification.              -Man, those were long-winded. |
