Then why call it Rapid Application Development?              Don't laugh too loudly here: web-applications are turning out to be       horribly expensive to produce on intranets. RAD works, and as RAD tools       go, Paradox works extremely well. I think that someone who focuses on the       suite of Developer/RAD tools that Borland once had ... the tools that once       defined(!) Borland ... might easily outperform the "I don't know what I       wanna be when I grow up" -thing- that Borland has lately become.              >> Most software developers also hope that it will require many more years       >> to support.       > Software of any value requires years of support.       >       >> In my opinion, Borland has hurt itself severely by constantly trying to       >> "find itself"...       > Borland's ongoing identity crisis can no longer harm users of its       > development products. Isn't that a good thing, setting aside the damage       > already done?              That's a good way of putting it, Larry. I think that Borland has been its       own worst enemy for a dozen years. Maybe the Embarcadero investors will be       a godsend. Especially if they reconsider the "sleeping beauty" business       value of You-Know-What.              ----       ChimneySweep(R): Fast(!) table repair at a click of the mouse!       http://www.sundialservices.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
