|    BDE on 64 bit Vista    |

From: fcook@acsplus.com              we use dBase rather than Paradox but it was suggested that I try asking this       question here. We've been struggling to get the BDE to work on 64 bit       Vista. I can get it to work just fine on regular Vista by checking the       Win3.1 option (to make it store everything in a configuration file instead       of the registry) and making sure the data isn't in the program files       directory. I'm having no similar luck on 64 bit. I think I need to install       the BDE in a non-traditional location and set appropriate registry entries       but we haven't been able to get it to work.              has anyone here done it?              is there a particular installation program that knows how to touch all the       proper bases? (we have an old version of Install Shield that came with       CBuilder3 and knows how to install the BDE but won't run on 64 bit, and a       version of InstallAware that came with CBuilder2007 which runs in 64 bit but       doesn't have a BDE option. we tried having InstallAware copy the files and       leaving the registry entries to be set manually but that didn't seem to       work. maybe the registry must be set with an installation program or there       are non-obvious permissions that must be granted. we're lost.              oh, if I'm asking in the wrong forum, please direct me to the proper place.              --       Frank M.
