   Hi Noons,   
   I love Jonathan's work, he really does do a lot of good work. I've   
   attended several of his sessions and he is an excellent lecturer who   
   really prepares his sessions and his materials. I do have a problem with   
   the people who start their lectures with the Chicxulub impact and the   
   history of the IT ever since, and devote less than half of the time   
   alloted to the subject of the lesson. I have recently criticized a Youtube   
   clip of that nature, much to the chagrin of Tanel Poder, who protested   
   against my critique as being uncollegial.   
   As for being a "bad DBA", I certainly hope so. I've built my credibility   
   on being a computer geek who describes things as they are, without   
   marketing veneer. I don't consider myself a businessman but a hard core   
   geek, of the old school. That is why I will never become a member of that   
   fabled furniture store, "The Oak Table", and I will probably never become   
   an "Oracle Ace". Tanel is now a CEO of a company, which is not my   
   ambition. I do, however, wish both him and Gluent the best of luck.   
      
   Aside from that fabled YT clip which caused Tanel to stop communicating   
   with me, I've also seen "lectures" which are either a pure marketing   
   stuff or regurgitated stuff from books and magazines. I will not name   
   names, after all I live in the lawyer capital of the world and am aware   
   of the danger, but lecture titles like "Secrets of Oracle Tuning" which   
   cover automatic tuning from the EM and DBMS_SPM, along with the war   
   stories of BCHR, are the reason to introduce stoning as an option. I was   
   once very subversive and asked one such lecturer about the airspeed   
   velocity of an unladen swallow. His facial expression was an adequate   
   substitute for stoning. He didn't know the answer, either. One has to   
   know such things when teaching bogus tuning courses, you know.   
      
   BTW, the clip in question wasn't produced by Tanel. It was done by a
