+AD4APg +AD4 +AD4 there are more than 100 hints from Oracle, if you pick 3 out
   from
+AD4APg +AD4 +AD4 the 100 hints, the permutations is up to 1 million. No brute
   force
+AD4APg +AD4 +AD4 can do it in your database.
   +AD4APg +AD4 +AD4
   +AD4APg +AD4 +AD4
   +AD4APg +AD4
+AD4APg +AD4 Precisely. So why advertise that Tosska crap as a product that
   can
+AD4APg +AD4 do it? Unless of course this:
   +AD4APg +AD4
+AD4APg +AD4 +ACI-in which the engine tries every possible Oracle Hints
   combinations
+AD4APg +AD4 for a SQL statement to improve the execution speed+ACI
   +AD4APg +AD4
   +AD4APg +AD4 doesn't now mean a brute force approach?
   +AD4APg
+AD4APg Yes, you are right. It should be
   +AD4APg
+AD4APg +ACI-in which the engine tries every possible effective Oracle Hints
   +AD4APg combinations for .....+ACI
   +AD4
+AD4 So it uses some heuristic algorithms.
+AD4 Somehow it is better than an experienced DBA?

Probably cheaper. Not the same results, but accurate enough and cheaper.
One of the few defeats for Oracle RDBMS was handed down to Larry by the
Microsoft Corp. The most prevalent marketing pitch for SQL Server at the
time was that anyone who knows Windows can be a DBA for SQL Server. And
Oracle has worked hard to eliminate the role of a DBA. They have almost
succeeded. Unfortunately for them, SQL Server pitch is no longer +ACI-it's
much cheaper and you don't need a DBA+ACI, but +ACI-it's almost as good as
Oracle and much cheaper than Oracle. A good SQL Server DBA is much
cheaper than a good Oracle DBA+ACI. What Oracle needs is a DBA who will know
every nook and cranny of the product and make much greater investment
into the database software worthwhile, if it's even possible.
Unfortunately, Oracle Corp. has turned a caste of competent DBA personnel
into bitter enemies. Unfortunately, such people would be needed now more
than ever, to employ their vast technical knowledge and experience and
give Oracle some wind beneath its wing. I am afraid that DEC story is
   about to be repeated.
   +AD4
+AD4 I'm not seeing the benefit.
   +AD4

It's not meant for you, it's meant for your PHB. Your PHB is the guy who
   signs the check.
