Now, it's being replaced, in this       > case, by a "C20" switch, and I don't even know what a "C20" switch       > is.              Most likely a Nortel (now Ribbon) CS-2000 as the core with a Gx or MGx       media gateways. Not as good but with significant power +consumption       savings.              I still work with the 5ESS daily but it is indeed becoming a relic of       days gone by. Most of my smaller deployments have been replaced by       either Cisco or Ribbon solutions and the larger ones are being       migrated to N4E (the updated 4ESS) when acting as a tandem or for end       offices services are now with the Metaswitch or Sonus solutions.              As much as I love the DMS it is like a black and white television in a       color 5ESS world. Someday I will be running a VCDX with DNUS in my       basement.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
