From: dannyb@panix.com              [FTC press release]              Federal Trade Commission Proposes Rule Provision Making it Easier for       Consumers to "Click to Cancel" Recurring Subscriptions and Memberships               Proposal seeks to make it as easy to cancel enrollment as it was to        sign up               March 23, 2023               The Federal Trade Commission today proposed a "click to cancel"        provision requiring sellers to make it as easy for consumers to cancel        their enrollment as it was to sign up. That is just one of several        significant updates the Commission is proposing to its rules regarding        subscriptions and recurring payments. The new click to cancel        provision, along with other proposals, would go a long way to rescuing        consumers from seemingly never-ending struggles to cancel unwanted        subscription payment plans for everything from cosmetics to newspapers        to gym memberships.        ======       rest:       https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2023/03/fede       al-trade-commission-proposes-rule-provision-making-it-easier-con       umers-click-cancel-recurring              _____________________________________________________       Knowledge may be power, but communications is the key        dannyb@panix.com       [to foil spammers, my address has been double rot-13 encoded]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
