   David had the full backing of his people.  I'm not so sure about C++.  It   
   would be interesting to somehow map out the C++ community and see where it   
   is used the most and what users think about it (in particular, why do they   
   use C++ -- performance, libraries, existence on exotic platforms, etc.).
