   Sure. My will to reach out and grab impulsively had long ago been moderated by   
   burnt fingers. But why, in your fit of enthusiasm, stop with std::vector<>, et   
   al, when all of C++11 looms not far behind? Can you really just branch the   
   revision, work    
   quietly in your corner, and then merge it all back at the end? When do you   
   think you might deprecate the "old" constructs, and when ultimately will you   
   remove them altogether as obsolete? Granted, if it were my project, I would   
   likely agree it needs to    
   be done; pleased that it won't have to be me; but have to wonder if you know   
   what you're letting yourself in for, understand the impact this has on ongoing   
   work, and whether you will, let alone can, carry it through. You don't owe me   
   an explanation. Just    
   be clear in your own mind the size of the undertaking.
