I really doubt that any Python apps are doing       the level of what I do. I would be careful telling people that Python       apps run anywhere near the speed of C++.              I used to have my data storage code written in Smalltalk, an interpreter       using automatic garbage collection. It was about a 100X slower than my       C++ code.
