   true, but the reason goes back before in-app purchases (another ios   
   first that the trolls ignore).   
      
   developers set the price of their apps, which can change at any time   
   for any reason, most commonly for promotional purposes.   
      
   that means that a paid app can instantly become a free app and a free   
   app can instantly become a paid app.   
      
   it should be obvious why it works the way it does, at least to those   
   who aren't trolls.
