|    Stop Weather and other notifications app    |

From: Man@the.keyboard              Hi,        I have an iPad 6, [which was] running 17.7.2 and I quite like the       little beasty but it insists on adding a "stack" for the Weather       application, a huge, bloated icon for the Clock, an icon for News and       an icon for Calendar to the Home Sreen when I restart it.               I've removed them multiple times. I've removed the Weather       application from the machine, I've stopped *all* notifications. These       buggers still pop up every time I restart. It's not just the normal       icon-sized icons, it's massive chunks of screen real-estate.               Okay, so I found a 17.7.6 OS update and applied this. It took a few       reboots but it works fine ...               However ...               The first restart into 17.7.6 gave me a screen with a "Files"       stack, a Clock widget and a Calendar widget. As this bugged me, I       "remove widget./stack"-ed them all then rebooted.               The second reboot started without any of them.               I gave it a few minutes then did another restart ... no big, huge,       blobby "Notification" icons.               I think I've fixed it.               Oh, just as an amusing aside, I already *have* a Calendar and a       Clock icon on the first Home Screen. Those never expanded themselves.       They are still there and still do timey thingys after all of the       fiddling.               Apologies if no one finds any of this interesting. *I* did. Also       slightly bemusing. And, yes, I did go to Apple Support on the Web as       well as other places but those weren't very helpful.               Anyway, I'm counting this one as "solved".               J.              Addendum: why did I totally remove the "Weather Application" from the       machine? Well, I only use the Pad when I'm out and when I'm outside I       can often tell whether it's cold, rainy or dark. I decided that I'd       never need it. :)              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
