   Local MS apps and sharepoint files aren't either/or. You can use your local   
   apps with files synced dynamically on sharepoint.   
      
   I always do this, as I agree with you the webapps are not fully functional.   
   I've set the default to open all files using my local apps.   
      
   I even have my sharepoint files synced locally on my machine for working on   
   when I'm remote or have no network (i.e. on a plane).
