    Before you do that, do you have an Apple store nearby enough to   
   visit? SOme of their "Genius Bar" girls are very good. Or if you have   
   an authorised Apple repair shop nearby, that may also be helpful.   
      
    Have you tried letting the battery drain, then recharging it? I am   
   sure that won't do much but it might just work.
