   When you think of the dark web, you might think of hackers, the   
   Silk Road, and other illegal services that operate covertly and   
   mysteriously. However, the essence of the dark web for anonymous   
   communication is useful for more than just illicit behavior.   
   The technologies that surround the dark web are used by   
   journalists, people who need access to censored news sites, the   
   U.S. military, and even people who just want to avoid annoying   
   targeted ads. It may also surprise you that the infrastructure   
   used to browse and communicate anonymously on the dark web is
