XPost: alt.privacy.anon-server, misc.phone.mobile.iphone       From: nobody@yamn.paranoici.org              > The morons in the New Zealand government want to increase housing       density as a "solution" to the supposed "housing shortage", which means       more apartment buildings ... but they the companies marketing them       can't sell the ones they've already got. There are numerous "deals"       trying to get people to buy an apartment and some companies selling       them have gone bankrupt and others have dropped planned developments.       Plus there's all the issues of the body corporate fees, etc. The       reality is that almost nobody here wants to live in an apartment. Most       of the ones that do sell are bought or rented by the few less wealthy       asian immigrants and foreign students who are more used to living in       such buildings in high-population cities like Tokyo.               Had to live in apartments once. The same problems. One was in a not       so good part of town. I had to get up for work at 4am. The water       pipes had air in them, so they made a bumping sound when running hot       water. People started knocking on my my door after going to bed to       wake me up.        Someone had a dog that they would let out to wiz in the middle of the       night and it would then bark, bark, bark to get back in, waking people       in the complex. Sometimes the owners wouldn't wake up and let it in       for a whole hour. One night when the dog was barking, someone put a       brick through their glass picture window. What a crashing noise it       made. It sounded like a plane had crashed in the court yard. No more       dog barking after that.        A couple in another apartment who lived above me would get into knock       down, dragged out physical fights at night. Really loving people.        I finally bought a travel trailers and lived in them. Motorhome now.        I can't tolerate the thought of paying thousands of dollars a year in       property taxes. Even in my small city they are $4000 to $6000 a year.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
