   I used to use PapyrusEx but it's long gone and now Android whines it's   
   too old. I went looking and it seemed there are a bunch, even of the free   
   kind that don't have ads or need money and don't broadcast your notes to   
   all and sundry. So just notes, one text file per note in a directory   
   that can be accessed by other apps too.   
      
   After looking I decided on Neutrinote as I wanted Markdown support in   
   addition to just plain text. It fails in the notes in configurable   
   accessible directory too but there's a builtin mirroring ability to   
   such.
