I don't remember how long the NYT over 3 article ban lasted. But erasing
cookies was easy with my cookie eraser browser extension button. Just
tic it every 3 articles and I got all the reading I wanted.

As much as I often get new electronic toys to play with and give away
the old ones to family that doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

I never sign up for any news subscriptions. They often make it easy to
sign up and very difficult to cancel.

That's called advertising. Even the old paper newspapers did it. They do
it because it works. Trouble is these days the moving/pop-up advertising
   is so much more annoying...

There are ways to prevent password sharing. Netflix tries. I'm not sure
how effective it is for the determined hacker.

Nagging (advertising) works. Otherwise they wouldn't waste their time
with it. All the news I want is free through various sources such as the
local TV stations and national websites like CNN. And by the use of
various browser extensions I can eliminate the popups and go to all
text and still photos with no ads...
