   Thanks. I prefer the slider capability. I'm not giving up on this   
   Windows app (WinDimmer) yet. There's apparently several different ways   
   to use it. Before I was using the app slider and leaving the app open.   
   Now I'm trying setting the screen low using the app, then closing the   
   app and using the laptop's slider/keys. Seems to work as well. And with   
   the app closed perhaps no longer the black screen problem? And of course   
   I have no proof that WinDimmer's the screen problem in the first place.   
   Time will tell.   
      
   And of course there's several more dimmer apps to try in the MS store. I   
   might even invest the astronomical sum of 99 cents US that some of them   
   want... :-O
