From: mariasophia@comprehension.com              I listen to documentaries every night with the phone plugged in, but I       slept on it and now it only charges from a USB-A brick & not a USB-C one.              Apparently the center tongue inside the USB-C port bends or cracks.       But USB-C relies on a dense set of pins on that little internal paddle.              USB-C -> USB-C cables need all the pins to line up, because they negotiate       power and data.              USB-A -> USB-C cables only use a simpler subset of pins, so they can still       make contact even when the port is partially damaged.              On my phone, the charging port is on a separate inexpensive daughterboard.       Which I just ordered from Amazon Vine for free. '              It should arrive in a few days.              It's not soldered to the main motherboard. It's just a clip in.       Apparently that's how most (all?) of the Galaxy A-series phones are made.              However, getting the phone apart and back together is the real issue.       Wireless charging might be a good idea for my next phone though... :)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
