   2-party systems inevitably go hand-in-hand with “first-past-the-post”   
   voting systems. You get this in the UK, and we used to get it in NZ   
   before we moved to proportional representation: the party that won a   
   majority of the seats often got in with a minority of the popular   
   vote.   
      
   The American “Electoral College” system makes this even worse.   
   Completely bizarre that anyone would put up with it.
