   Your "impression" is almost certainly wrong.   
      
   I've seen the inside of a laptop (yes: a Mac) after someone spilled beer   
   into it.   
      
   Water is a good enough conductor to short components, and when there is   
   sugar in the liquid, it quickly caramelizes and then carbonizes and   
   destroys the motherboard.
