   I know why they dropped KDE (because Xfce, Mate and Cinnamon) all used the   
   same base, but I don't know why he started with KDE and went to Gnome. Maybe   
   for the same reason I did. When KDE first moved from 3 to 4, 4 was buggy.   
   (Or was that 2 to 3?)   
      
   As far as not being "Wayland ready." That's a plus for me.
