Not entirely. For the Stallman part I have no idea because I can't
rewrite history. As Stallman wrote Emacs maybe he would be known even if
Linux didn't appear, maybe if Linux didn't appear another kernel would
have appear, maybe hurd would have been finished (well I strongly doubt
that part but can't be entirely sure), other things could have append,
so it's difficult to tell. I guess that some huge Linux contributors
would have switched to BSD contributions if Linux didn't exist, but it's
very difficult to tell (well it's easy to tell when living in historical
   fiction).

But telling that Torvalds had an important role in the real history of
FOSS isn't silly. And refusing to recognize him is silly. But those are
only two people and FOSS rely on more than only that whatever their
importance is. Their impact is important, but that fact that lot of
people follow their lead is important too.

And I'm very happy to see that Greg, with his very important ingrat role
(I mean: when everything is fine no one recognize his job and when there
is an issue it's his fault) has finally been recognized :

He's no more or less important than some other contributors, but unless
some others, his contributions aren't really understood by lay people.

And you can go further. Today, if you want to avoid Linux at all cost
you have no way to access Internet. If he can reach Usenet it's thanks
to Linux servers. At home, when I can choose everything I want, without
Windows I can do what I want.

Some time ago, when I had a Windows computer at work, I used a lot git
bash which is impressive, but never heard about Mingw. And now, I don't
have any use of them in my WM running Windows because I'm using it for
running Windows tools (let say that Trump isn't going farther enough to
show everyone how it's risky to use American programs and I need Windows
   in some special cases).

I don't know how DFS could make Stallman aware of FF/LP/DG/FR/whatever
but I agree that if he could, Stallman would despised him. But before
DFS would be able to do that, I'm pretty sure that Stallman never heard
about him and I agree that he doesn't give a shit about him. And
seriously, if I had some things to tell to Stallman, it wouldn't be
about a first class order moron like DG/FR/FF/LP/whatever.
