   The Broadcom driver solved the immediate issue. I'll watch future updates   
   to see if after 'apt update' and 'apt list --upgradeable' if I can then   
   lock out a new kernel update on LM.   
      
   fwiw, the Arch and Fedora boxes went to 6.18.9 with no problems.
