   The Batista era was great -- if you were in the elite club. As George   
   Carlin said, it's a big club and you ain't in it.   
      
   There was a brief period when Castro was a brave freedom fighter trying to   
   overthrow the corrupt Batista regime. You had to be there to remember it   
   since it's been buried in the deepest reaches of the memory hole.   
      
   When Castro declined to become a US puppet he changed to evil incarnate.   
   I'm not defending Castro but the last 60 years or so of the US embargoes   
   are bullshit. The US climbs into bed with a lot worse. Netanyahu comes to   
   mind.
