   By the way, if you’re using rsync to do the backup (you *are* using   
   rsync, aren’t you?), after it’s finished, you can rerun the command   
   with the “--checksum” option. This rechecks every byte of the backup   
   to ensure it matches the original. This takes just as much time again   
   as the backup copy did, but if you value your data ...
