   USB 3.0 starts at about 500 Mbyte/second, so best case is less than a   
   couple of hours even with 15-year-old equipment. You may well have   
   trouble maxing it out, but USB isn’t likely to be the problem here.

   As it happens I had cause to reinitialized a backup disk recently. It   
   took about 42 hours to backup a bit under 2TB using rsync. Much of the   
   data was on local SSD but some of it had to cross a network; the backup   
   disk is a portable hard disk and is probably the biggest single   
   bottleneck.
