Small businesses come and go all the time. I think the opportunity is with
new startups, who haven’t locked themselves into a proprietary platform, to
   adopt Free/Open Source software instead.

After all, small businesses cannot afford to spend unlimited amounts on
their software budget (or any other budget). So those locked into
proprietary platforms, and unable to make the investment to break out, are
going to suffer higher costs, which they have to try to pass on to their
customers in some way. This means their products become less attractive
compared to the competition. So they lose business and eventually go bust.
