?Simple solution. Sell it to a friend or relative for a buck or so and ask
them to give it back to you. The PC was assembled for someone else. What
they do with it is their business.

You regularly see magazine articles on "Building Your Own Windows Box". It
is true this gives you a lot more flexibility than buying a prebuilt PC off
the shelf. And it can be cheaper, too. Except for one thing.

Microsoft doesn't allow you to inatall an OEM-licensed copy of Windows for
your own use. You are supposed to buy a higher-priced FULL RETAIL COPY of
Windows for a machine you build for yourself. Says so right here
   :

Microsoft retail software licenses are the appropriate licenses for
the do-it-yourself market. OEM System Builder software is not
intended for this use, unless the PC that is assembled is being
        resold to another party.

Suddenly Windows doesn't seem so cheap, does it?
