But MS licensing, especially OEM licensing is bordering on the illegal,
   certainly in the UK.

The OEM licence states that you cannot move it to another computer.
Fine. However, MS has decided that if the original licensee changes the
MOTHERBOARD, and the motherboard ONLY,then that, in the eyes of MS, is a
new computer. Even that would be fine IF in the OEM licence terms, it
spelt that out. However, there is NO mention of motherboards WHATSOEVER
in the OEM END USER licence agreement.
So effectively MS say "here's the licence between you and me that YOU
agreed to. Oh. You want to change what? The motherboard? Well actually
you can't because there is an agreement between me and your VENDOR,
which you have neither seen nor agreed to, that says you can't"
In the UK that comes under Unfair Contract Terms and as such is
   actionable. And MS know that.
