How else would you describe widespread and systematic deliberate       > copyright infringement?              It's not really to do with copyright infringement, it's more to do with       this nonsense that MS tries to perpetuate that an OEM Windows licence       becomes invalid when the licensee CHANGES THE MOTHERBOARD!       The scenario goes like this: the Licensee agrees to thew EULA on       installation, which has NO MENTION whatsoever of motherboards. All it       says is that the copy cannot be installed "on another computer" which is       fair enough. They then (for whatever reason) need to change the       motherboard. Bang! Activation fails.       What does MS say? "Well actually, paying customer, there's another       agreement, that's secret, an agreement between us and the manufacturer       of your computer, that you HAVEN'T agreed to, and have NEVER seen, but       we say means that you cannot install your OEM copy on a new or different       motherboard"!!!!!!!!!       You wouldn't believe the excuses that come out by certain people to       defend this illegal contract!       Any court in the world would throw that out as being unfair or illegal       contract terms, and yet MS still tries to get away with it via their       "activation" system.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
