   Actually, it's a consequence of a platform having hardware vendors that   
   don't really understand or care about user experience, and that are   
   desperate for some extra cash because they're making low-margin,   
   undifferentiated commodity products.   
      
   The same nonsense is starting to happen with some Android phones. In   
   contrast, it doesn't happen with iOS or OS X, because Apple controls the   
   entire user experience and actually cares.
